The Science and practice of stretching
We are pleased to offer a workshop on the benefits of stretching within a Yoga practice.
This workshop will focus on:
An introduction to the benefits of stretching
An explanation of the different types of stretching, and how best to incorporate these into your yoga practice
Demonstrating and practicing active, passive, and therapeutic stretching in a yoga practice
Highlight the benefits of incorporating stretching into your fitness routine for maximum results
Stretching Research
Yoga Yama will be presenting a series of workshops and events focusing specifically on the importance and benefits of stretching for overall well-being.
This is part of Doctoral Research being undertaken by Gordon Teasdale.
All participants in the workshops will be asked to give informed consent to take part in research on the perceptions of Stretching. All data gathered will be anonymised and confidential, and used for research purposes only. Participants to the workshops will be asked to complete a brief pre and post workshop questionnaire on their perceptions of stretching.
The workshop will be held on Sunday 19th August 2021 from 14:00 to 16:00. The cost of the workshop is £25. There are eight in person places available so early booking is highly recommended.

1 : 1 Yoga with Gordon Teasdale of Body in Motion Rehab (Sports Therapist, Ashtanga and Yin yoga teacher) or Dr Helen Nicholas of HCNPsychology (Practitioner Psychologist, Ashtanga and Yin yoga teacher.
For 1 : 1 sessions with Gordon or Helen please contact us to arrange a time. Sessions may cover:
functional movement
strength and conditioning
movement for mind and body
Our private yoga class rate is £60 per hour.
Online yoga - cognitive behavioural therapy for anxiety workshop
With Dr Helen Nicholas of HCN psychology (Practitioner Psychologist, Ashtanga and Yin yoga teacher), and Gordon Teasdale of Body in Motion Rehab (Sports Therapist, Ashtanga and Yin yoga teacher)
The workshop has been adapted to suit an online audience and is spread over four weeks. Sessions will run on Saturday 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th May 2020 at 11.00 - 12.15.
Each session will include:
A component of the CBT model with a specific focus on anxiety
A fifty-minute asana yoga practice for all levels
Mindfulness exercises in savasana / relaxation
